FAST was formed to advance informal education of individuals in Morgan County to apply arts, sciences & technologies in their daily lives. One of its many projects is the Morgan County Wellness Project. The Project introduces people to the benefits of eating a balance of vitamin-like omega-3 and omega-6 nutrients to maintain a tissue balance of omega-3 and omega-6 hormone precursors and ensure balanced actions of omega-3 and omega-6 hormones on receptors that are present on nearly every cell and tissue in the body
To help people NIX the 6 and EAT the 3 in their daily life, FAST developed the Omega-3 Balance Score [http://www.fastlearner.org/Omega-3Balance.htm] that compresses USDA data on eleven omega-3 and omega-6 nutrients into a single score for each food item. More positive scores predict a higher omega-3 balance for your body, and more negative scores predict a lower omega-3 balance for your body.
